Maxime is an old friend, and after seeing our new Falcon, he knew it was the bike he needed.
Here’s what he had to say after riding his bike for the first few dozen kilometers:
"Where to start… First of all, a big thank you! I didn’t really know what to expect beyond rediscovering what we loved when we were younger, namely steel. It’s so nice to be back on a frame that doesn’t bully you and looks great from each and every angle. On the strictly technical side, I’m going to speak off the cuff, but… it feels so good! The fork is extremely precise (which was the thing that worried me a little), the steering is really intuitive, and it’s much more forgiving of mistakes than carbon, for me and my riding style.
The frame itself has incredible lateral stiffness, and when accelerating, it feels very similar to carbon while maintaining the ultimate comfort that steel provides. The weight was also something that made me a little apprehensive about my first few rides on this bike, but it takes me places with disconcerting ease. The overall assembly is top-notch and extremely well adjusted (no noise from the cables or other distracting noises). The geometry is perfect, eliminating the imperfections of my previous carbon gravel bike. No pain or fatigue, even in my hands, not a hint of tingling in my arms on my ride, and yet I don’t use gel gloves or anything like that… Overall, the bike’s capacity over long and even very long distances is impressive! I can already see myself pushing my distance limits more easily than with any other bike, which is great because that’s what I was looking for! Thanks again and long live Quokka!"
