This year we designed and built a bike that’s a little different from what we’re used to bringing to Bespoked. It all began with the announcement that production of Paragon was coming to an end. Their Z-couplers were a component we’d always wanted to work with; we’d simply not yet had the right project.
The Quokka Pilgrim steps slightly off the usual path of our standard range. Designed with ease of use and rock-solid practicality in mind, thanks to its couplers and various connectors, this bike is just as ready for getting groceries as it is for setting off on a trip in a suitcase that doesn’t exceed the size limit!
To stay true to a timeless aesthetic philosophy, we got in touch with the people who make the parts we particularly love. The first person to jump on board with this project was Baby Legs Bags, who drew on all their expertise to craft a stunning set of bespoke bags in fabrics whose shades perfectly match the bike’s colours.
Also joining us were Sim Works, Berthoud Cycles, Tune, Ultra Dynamico and Munro, who sent us parts of the very best quality, perfectly suited to the project, resulting in a finish full of finesse and attention to detail. Finally, we just needed to find a pair of brakes and a crankset worthy of the name for this project, and what could be better than components from cyclists’ favourite machinists, Paul Comp. and White Industries, to complete this bike?
